Frequently Asked Questions
What is the NJANP?
The New Jersey Association of Naturopathic Physicians (NJANP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in 2018, dedicated to advancing naturopathic medicine in our state. We represent naturopathic doctors who have completed a four-year, graduate-level naturopathic medical program accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). As a charitable and educational organization, we exist to promote safe, effective, and cost-conscious approaches to preventing and treating disease, and to help integrate naturopathic medicine into New Jersey’s broader health care landscape.
Our work centers on four core aims: Awareness, Access, Licensure, and Support. We educate the public and legislators about what naturopathic medicine is and when it can help, expand access to natural wellness and preventive care by connecting New Jersey residents with qualified naturopathic doctors, and advocate for state regulation and licensure to ensure clear standards and accountability. At the same time, we support naturopathic physicians practicing in New Jersey so that this form of medicine can grow sustainably and remain available as a high-quality option for individuals and families across the state.
Does NJ offer licensure for naturopathic physicians?
No. New Jersey does not currently license naturopathic doctors. Many licensable NDs in New Jersey maintain active licensure in other states that do license NDs so they can stay current with continuing education requirements.
Will naturopathic doctors become licensed in NJ?
Hopefully! And with your help, we'll be closer to this goal! Please consider becoming a Supporting or Advocate member and donate to our cause!
Where can I find a licensed naturopathic doctor?
NJANP maintains a “Find an ND” directory of New Jersey naturopathic doctors who attended accredited naturopathic medical colleges (CNME-recognized). You can start there to find a properly trained provider.
